HELPING BUILD A HOME FOR A SWFL HOMETOWN HERO

 

WHAT DOES THIS PROGRAM DO?

  • This program will assist a low income disabled veteran from Southwest Florida obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in the Cape Coral Area.

  • The amount of assistance will and eligibility will be determined by the adjusted family income.

WHO MAY APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAM?

  • A number of factors are considered when determining an applicant’s eligibility for Acts of Kindness Home Grant Program.

  • At a minimum, applicants interested must have an adjusted income that is at or below the applicable low-income limit for the Cape Coral area.

Applicants must:

  • Be without decent, safe and sanitary housing Must be a 1st Time Home Owner.

  • Be unable to obtain a conventional home loan from other resources on terms and conditions that can reasonably be expected to meet.

  • Agree to occupy the property as your primary residence for a minimum of 10 years, and be willing to sign a soft second mortgage until 10 year residency requirement has been meet.

  • Agree to Bi-Annual welfare inspection during 10 year residency requirement.

  • Must be a Citizen of the United States of America.

  • Must have served and been honorably discharged from a branch of the United States Military.

  • Must have a service connected disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs or Department of Defense or a unmarried widow or widower of a disabled veteran who died due to their service connected disabilities.

  • Properties will be funded by donor directed funds and must: Generally be 2,000 square feet or less • Not have in-ground swimming pools.

  • Not be designed for income producing activities.
